What is Renewable Energy Heating?

Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished).

In the context of Renewable Energy Heating, it relates to hot water and central heating systems that use these natural heat sources to create efficiency levels remarkably higher than those of conventional heating appliances.

Home Glow specialises in 3 of these renewable central heating systems, namely:

  1. Solar panel assisted hot water
  2. Air to Water Central Heating
  3. Air to Air Heating

Installing any of the above systems, will return an immediate drop in energy usage for the same output of heat and hot water.

Solar Assisted Hot Water

Solar Panel systems, such as Worcester Bosch Greenskies, use the power in both direct and diffused sunlight, converting the energy into heat, to produce hot water for the home.

A well-sized system of solar panels could provide up to 60% of your annual hot water requirements.

The solar panels are designed to go with existing heating systems that use a cylinder to store hot water. See Diagram opposite.

Currently, Worcester Bosch are offering £200 cash back to anyone who has a solar panel system, boiler and cylinder supplied and fitted by us.

Our own deals on Solar Systems change regularly, so for more information or to arrange a site survey and free quotation, call us on 0800 027 0061 or click here.

renewables004Air to Water Airsource Pump (use image renewable004)

Air source heat pumps, such as Worcester Bosch Greensource, are intended to be the sole source of heating and hot water production for the home.

Air to water heat pumps use the constant energy available in the air with a refrigerant circuit which allows the temperature to be boosted to a useful level for heating or hot water for the home.  See diagram opposite.

An air source heat pump can be used in conjunction with under floor heating and/or radiators.  An air source heat pump can also be used in conjunction with a solar panel assisted hot water system, as described above.

The air source heat pump system comprises an outdoor and indoor unit. The outdoor unit extracts the energy in air outside the property. This energy is absorbed by a refrigerant solution which is compressed to a higher temperature. The indoor unit then uses the heat generated by the outdoor unit to create hot water for a traditional pressurised heating and hot water system.

Installation of these heat pumps is relatively simple and they are suitable for a wide range of property types. A typical air to water heatsource pump can be up to 400% efficient (i.e. it creates 4KW of useable heating for every 1KW of energy it uses).

renewables005Air to Air Heatsource Pump

The Greensource Air to Air Heat Pump can provide heating and cooling for the home. It also features advanced air purification technology which is particularly beneficial to allergy sufferers.

The heat pump comprises an outdoor and an indoor unit which convert latent energy in the air (even on the coldest days) into heat for your home. The outdoor unit extracts the energy in air outside the property. This heat, absorbed by refrigerant solution within the unit, is turned into hot air by the indoor unit and distributed within the property.

Air source heat pumps are suitable for a wide range of installations including apartments, smaller homes and conservatories. It’s operated using a remote control.

A typical air to air heatsource pump can be up to 500% efficient (i.e. it creates 5KW of useable heating for every 1KW of energy it uses).
